NOT dead last!

When the two bottom of the league teams meet to hash it out, pride comes into play: nobody wants to be dead last, and someone has to.

And it wasn't the Senators. With a superlative effort on the part of Alex Kovalev, the Senators came out ahead, although it looked like the team wanted to hand it to the Oilers. Finally getting a two goal lead, the Senators took two really dumb penalties back-to-back and had to survive a knuckle-biting 5-on-3.

Strangely, it was the trade fodder that came thorugh big time. Chris Phillips made some big plays defensively and was a presence on the offense. His problem: he still misses the net when he shoots. But I'm nit-picking, the Big Rig was back in top form and it leads me to believe that a trade trigger is about to be pulled somewhere.

Same with Kovalev who was simply brilliant in his patience and undressing the defense. Truly the "Artiste" once again. More hats off to Brian Elliott who finally took one. He was good. Sure you can say that he should have had the two from Dustin Penner, but those were laser-guided off the post and in, kind-of-shots. Pretty much impossible for any goalie.

GO SENS GO!!
