The sky is falling!
You can't fool the fans.

We hockey scribes always think that we need to add a little extra something to demonstrate our superior knowledge of the game, or some unseen consequence that the fan may not have noticed. I think we sell the Ottawa Senators fans way short. They know, man, they know.
The shot above shows the level of support for the Sens late in the third period against the Montréal Canadiens. Mostly Habs fans remain in the stands. The Sens fans are already somewhere on the Queensway, probably listening to the pre-ordained end to the game they just left on The Team 1200. When fans are more worried about trying to avoid traffic, you know you've hit a limit.
Some Ottawa sports writers have been running around like Chicken Little screaming "The sky is falling, the sky is falling" for the past month. But when the fans walk out early on their team, the sky truly is falling.
While the team showed that they were trying, really trying, and that bad luck was mostly what was biting them in the butt. No more. The Senators looked like a team lost last night, and somethig has to give. Albert Einstein once said that insanity was doing things the same way every time and expecting different results. Something needs to be done differently, and now.
The Ottawa Senators are first and foremost an entertainment franchise. And when the entertainment fails to entertain, well...
GO SENS GO!!
