Meanwhile, back on the funny farm...
It's a little disconcerting to see the total lack of professionalism by some sports writers in the Ottawa media... namely the ones from the Ottawa Sun.

The scribes at the Ottawa Sun are braying for the head of coach Cory Clouston as if it will make an iota of difference to the outcome of the Senators' season. Let's face facts here, the Senators front office had little appetite for the word "rebuild" over last summer, and tried to prop up an ageing machine that wasn't performing anymore, and hasn't performed for the last two seasons.
Rebuilding is expensive and dangerous business for a professional team, and requires an owner with deep pockets to weather the departure of fair-weather fans. Naturally, some journalists think they know how to run a professional hockey team better than the people who are paid to do so. The funny thing is that these writers believe they speak for the majority of fans, which they patently do not, as a quick review of the comments that their pap produces. All this, I'm sure, in order to be able to resoundingly proclaim "I told you so" at some point in time.
At this late stage of the season, the Senators will show their best face, even though that face may not be attractive to all. They will dump as many large salaries as possible, trade some talent to where it is needed for a cup run, and spend the summer rebuilding the team from scratch.
Yes, of course, we'll likely have to weather a couple of down seasons. But all the best teams have gone through it, just ask any long-term Habs, Bruins, or Flyers fan. Be that as it may, the real Ottawa fans will still continue to support the team, even when fair-weather supporters like Brennan and Garrioch are ready to give up on the team altogether.
GO SENS GO!!
