What happens when...

What happens when your best is not enough? What happens when you put out the perfect game and still lose? What happens when you maker all the required efforts and still fall short?

No one anywhere can place the blame on the Senators for the one-point performance against the Anaheim Ducks. The Senators were as close to perfect as I've seen them this season. They worked hard offensively, peppering Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller with 40 shots. That Hiller was hot is an understatement.

The Senators were disciplined, taking no penalties whatsoever. For the most part, the Senators had the offensive advantage, and kept whatever chances the Ducks had to a minimum. It took a herculean effort on Corey Perry's part to beat Brian Elliott, who was otherwise incredibly solid for the Sens.

No one can argue that the machine wasn't working. The boys were playing the Cory Clouston plan to the limit and had their chances. For some reason, the puck still managed to stay out of the net. I for one (unlike some uncouth scribes who shall remain nameless, but whose initials are B.R.U.C.E.G.A.R.R.I.O.C.H. and D.O.N.B.R.E.N.N.A.N.) place no blame whatsoever on the Senators for this dissatisfying result. The game was executed as perfectly as one can ask. In a fair world, the game would have finished with a 3-1 score in favour of the Senators.

Unfortunately, life has been anything but fair for the Sens of late.

GO SENS GO!!
