Fire AK-27

With coach Cory Clouston's job hanging on the line, Alex Kovalev threw away the Senators' chance to secure a rare victory against a Conference's powerhouse. If coaches can be fired, shouldn't playersbe fired too?

Kovie can be a talent on the ice, but only offensively. Defensively, he sucks. I'll grant him that his line was one of the most dangerous last night, constantly threatening Dwayne Roloson. Rollie was sharp in keeping the Senators to a single goal. Let's count the Senators that had a good scoring chance and were robbed: Peter Regin, Kovie, Erik Karlsson, Chris Campoli, Nick Foligno, Milan Michalek... we could go on here.

I thought the Senators played very well, right until the point that Kovalev pulled a "Karlsson" (or was it  Karlsson who pulled a "Kovalev" against the Hawks?) in the defensive zone, trying to do too much with too little. My only complaint beside that was that there was no net crashing on the Sens' part. Roloson was hot on the first shots him but was coughing up juicy rebounds, and there was rarely a Senator there to bury it, likely afraid of getting stung on the return play if they don't score.

I still think the gods of the NHL must not like the Sens. What kind of rule book allows a goalie who's been dinged to ask for the play to be stopped when he's under pressure as Roloson did, but when a player is genuinely in distress, as Mike Fisher was, the play continues? Can someone point me to the rule that allowed Roloson to stop the play?

Overall a good game. The Sens gave almost as good as they got, and it was a matter of inches either way.

GO SENS GO!!
