Playing like Juniors

Most times, the declaration that a team is "playing like Juniors" is a bad thing. After seeing the Canada - USA semi-final game at the World Junior Hockey Championship, I'm not so sure anymore.

I definitely think the Senators can learn something from the Canadian Junior team. What the national Juniors brought to the ice is an offensive powerhouse with great defensive awareness. The boys played with energy and really showed what REAL hockey is all about. It's about crashing the net like Ryan Johansen. It's about hard hits and skating hard like Brent Howden. It's about being gritty and winning battles like Curtis Hamilton at the goal mouth.

All in all the Senators organization should work toward that type of team: larger players who are hard skaters and hard workers. Concentrate on the offense with some savvy defense. Not impenetrable defense, but just enough so your goalie is not constantly under pressure.

I want to see the Senators play the kind of game that kids who are not yet in the NHL can play. All of the Senators players can play at that level. They have just forgotten how.

GO SENS GO!!
