Hard work doesn't pay off

A heartbreaker. A real heartbreaker. Such a heartbreaker that I'm tempted to put the ciggie pack warning below as a pic. But that's a little much.

The Senators were, for once, the clearly superior offensive team, peppering Columbus goaltender Steve Mason with 38 shots. But the puck just wasn't going in, whereas the Blue Jackets were taking advantage of every oportunity the Sens' defense gave them.

Now I won;t complain. I have been saying all season that the Senators should curtail the defensive play and concentrate on offense. And clearly, Brian Elliott made some key saves. But 4 goals on 23 shots is not a grat save pecentage. As a note, it's the second time in as many games that Elliott's attempt at poking the puck away results in a 5-hole goal... "the definition of insane is doing things the same way and expecting different results". 'Nuff said.

On the upside, the Sens struggled back from a 3-0 hole and tied it up neatly as punch. The 4th line showed a lot of energy. Add Jesse Winchester's crossbar and Alex Kovalev's goal post, and the results could have been much different.

The Sens now return to the battle of Ontario at home in Bytown. Let's hope the travel from Ohio last night didn't take too much out of them.

GO SENS GO!!
