Brodeur's lightning

Pascal Leclaire is once again on the injured list, and Brian Elliott has been oh-so-normal of late. Could it be Mike Brodeur's big chance?

Weirder things have happened, and the planets seem to be aligning themselves properly in favour of Brodeur. Leclaire is resting a lower body injury. Elliott is so-so. Usual AHL call-up Robin Lehner is playing at the World Junior Championship for Sweden, and Brodeur is just coming back into the game from a concussion, having registered a shut-out in his first game back.

Brodeur was rock solid for the Sens last year in his three game stretch last season: no losses, three wins, including a shutout, a 1.00 GAA and .966 save percentage. Those are amazing numbers. Now we all know those were only three games, but no one can argue that Brodeur was solid, positionally sound, big in net, fast with the legs, and quick to reposition himself. All the things you want in a great goalie.

The next game is against Nashville. While not exaxctly a throwaway game - the Sens can;t afford to lose too many more - it is a road game against a Western team for which the Senators could use some of Brodeur's energy. The last time they played Brodeur, it fired off an 11-game winning streak.

I think Cory Clouston could do worse than to give this kid a shot.

GO SENS GO!!
