Aawww, maaaan!!
That was my reaction to Matt Duchene's OT winning goal. It was an amazing scoring game, the type of offensive that I've been wanting the Senators to deliver for... well, since I started this blog actually. It was disappointing and left me sick at heart.

There is a lot of good from this game, but I want to let the pus out of the infection first. Brian Elliott's play was not good. It wasn't disgustingly bad (he's been worse), but you need your goalie to step up with some big saves sometimes, and Elliott wasn't there for those. And he is definitely playing deep in his crease again.
Filip Kuba was also not great the past two games. He was out of position on a few goals, stuck on the wrong side of the ice against the WIld, or well behind the play against the Avs. And much as it pains me, I have to hang the overtime Avs goal on Daniel Alfredsson. The bad pass and the half-hearted back checking is what cost the Senators the game.
That said, it was an amazing West Coast swing for the Senators. Ottawa usually sucks big time against Western teams, but this time managed to grab 3 of a possible 4 points. That's great stuff. Pascal Leclaire, whose health continues to be a question mark, is now very good for the Sens.
We've seen a lot of scoring and contribtuions from all lines, but I think the difference-maker is the play setups. Chris Kelly did a beautiful job in setting up Erik Karlsson, Ryan Shannon worked hard in setting up Milan Michalek, and Nick Foligno was great in his setup of Alfie. The Senators have shown they can strip the puck from the opposition and take advantage of it.
The Sens come back home to a game against the Washington Capital on Sunday. Let's hope they bring all the pieces of the euqation to the ice against Alex Ovechkin.
GO SENS GO!!
