Ottawa has its own Brodeur
Who is this guy? Who comes out of nowhere and leads the Senators to a victory against the Rangers? And led them to a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild back in December?

Mike Brodeur is indeed a distant relative of goaltending superstar Martin Brodeur, and it seems the goaltending gene is alive and well in the family. The 26-year-old Mike Brodeur was called up barely hours before the game, showed up at Madison Square Garden, plunked himself in front of the cage, and stopped everything: 32 shots, 32 saves.
This is not the first time Brodeur impresses this much. After a stint in the ECHL, he was signed to the AHL by the Hershey Bears and posted a shutout in his very first game. He spent the 2008-09 season with the Rochester Americans where he had a 18-13-4 record with a .921 save percentage. He was signed for a one-year contract with the Binghamton Sens last summer, where he currently has an impressive .952 save percentage!!
I admire his poise in front of the net. Brodeur is a big goalie and stands taller in nets than most goalies today who are usually almost bent in half. But he moves that big frame fast! He plays intelligently, challenges when necessary, doesn't overplay, and is athletic. I'm thinking let's get this guy on board for a couple of games and see how he does. Developing talent in thenew NHL way, and it seems the Sens may have finally hit paydirt with Brodeur.
