The Sens Alumni

While everyone is talking line-ups - I'm still waiting to see if coach Clouston and I are in agreement - let's take a look at the Sens alumni and how they're doing with their other teams. Let's take a quick look at the pre-season of some of Ottawa's most influential players.

  Today:
Antoine Vermette

Vermette did well for himself in Columbus last year, going back to the centre position in which he had so much success with the Victoriaville Tigres, recording 119 points in 2000-2001. Vermette recorded 7 goals and 6 assists in only 17 games with the Blue Jackets.
Vermette signed a $3.5-million a year 5-year extension with Columbus, on top of which the Blue Jackets awarded him an "A" this year. So far in the pre-season, Vermette has scored one goal in each of his last three games.
With Vermette established in Columbus, with no contract worries, I anticipate that he will have a great year. His performance since the trade to the Blue Jackets, extended over a whole 82-game season would see him finish the year 44 goals and 38 assists for 82 points. While this is a lofty goal indeed, Vermette's past performance has shown he can achieve high numbers with the right environment.
